Piast Trail - tourist route in Poland, which runs through the region Wielkopolska and Kujawsko-Pomorskie. In 2012 the Piast Trail received the Certificate of Polish Tourist Organisation for the best tourist product - a unique and extremely important for the Polish heritage.

The trail leads from Poznan by Pobiedziska, Moraczewo, Ostrow Lednicki, Gniezno, Trzemeszno Mogilno, Strzelno, Kruszwica, Inowrocław, Płowce, Brest Kujawski, Wloclawek and the route north-south: Wągrowiec, Łekno, Żnin, Biskupin, Gniezno, Grzybowo, Giecz, land of the Warta Konin to Kalisz. Hiking the trail plays the cyclical movement of the Piast rulers and their courts between the four castles, which acted as the capital.

Popular tours "Piast Trail" took place in the early 60s of the twentieth. in. People traveled then under the "company outings" tarpaulin-covered trucks, on wooden benches. The celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Polish State (in 1966) helped to popularize the trail. Then almost every student from the region of Wielkopolska once "scored" Piast Trail on school excursions. The exponential development of tourism started in the 70s, "Gierek." In 1976, on the initiative of the regional authorities of Poznan, launched a broad campaign restoration of monuments and tourist development section from Poznan to Gniezno. The plan of action developed Spatial Planning Office in Poznan. The axis of the work has long been the road E261, at which erected the ancient windmills, bus shelters, wooden sculptures and signs of a Piast [1].

January 15, 2016 was established in Gniezno tourist cluster in Wielkopolska Piast Trail. It is composed of 19 municipalities (five counties and fourteen municipalities) from the area of ​​Wielkopolska region. The aim of the creation of the cluster is to increase the attractiveness of the trail in Poland and abroad and attract more tourists him [2].
